!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to help determine if a living organism could survive a space launch and orbit. Unfortunately the Soviet Space agency never planned to recover her after the launch. Several stories came out to determine how long Laika survied after teh launch. From a few hours to several days. It was revealed after the USSR fell that poor Laika passed withing a few hours of the launch from an overheating cabin. It was determined the cause was form the first stage's failure to to separate from the payload.
